All charities are struggling, due to the pandemic,
to raise much needed funds. We at the Rotary Club of
Chelwood Bridge have come up with innovative ways of helping
our local charities by running virtual events. Our latest
event was a Virtual Quiz night which was held on the
cloud-based video conferencing service Zoom on 22nd
October 2020.
We had 12 teams participating, with each team containing up
to 4 people. Teams came from our local area, as well as from
Weston super Mare, Bridgewater and as far away as
Coulsdon Manor Rotary Club, London. There were 8 rounds
covering a variety of categories, and at the end
two teams tied on points, “White Shamrock” and “The Eagles”.
The tie breaker question was, "What was the length of the
Titanic, (in meters)". the nearest to the correct answer of
269 m, and the winning team, was, “The Eagles”.
This event enabled us to raise funds for Children's Hospice
Southwest, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and to
help us continue our charitable work as a club.
We have had very positive feedback that all enjoyed the
evening and they are looking forward to our next virtual
event.
